Today marks the first day of fall, and citizens of Swift Current and the southwest may soon get the first taste of winter.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist, Terri Lang, said the next couple of days aren't looking bad, however, they are expecting some weather systems to move throughout the week.

This should result in Thursday's weather looking wet and windy.

That pattern of precipitation, according to Lang, may continue further into late September.

"On the weekend, we have another big weather system moving through the prairies and that also looks wet. [It] also looks like there is a possibility of wet snow on Sunday, so [a] bit of a wet start to the fall."

Lang also said people should start preparing for the possibility of that snow on the weekend, adding the worst time will be on Sunday.

"People should be mentally prepared to see it, for one, because it can be a shock, but also we are coming into the fall season, so get those driving skills back."

She also mentioned that farmers only will have a couple more days to try and finish off the harvest before the rain hits on Thursday.
