Saskatchewan has seen a significant increase in home and rent costs over the last couple of years, making it a difficult time for many low-income residents to afford a place to live.

The province announced that they will be increasing the shelter allowance through a number of its programs in the Social Services Ministry, beginning February 1st.

For those under the Provincial Training Allowance in the Advanced Education, Employment and Labour Ministry, changes will be coming March 1st.

Rates will now be adjusted twice a year based on numbers from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
