Even with the potential closure of schools, it looks like another mill rate increase is in store for the Chinook School Division.

The board will finalize their mill rate for 2007/2008 at a meeting on April 30.

Rod Quintin is the secretary/treasurer for Chinook, and says an increased mill rate is due to a number of factors such as rising capital project costs, and revenue issues related to grants.

Quinton adds that they are also anticipating a 3.5% teacher salary increase for the fall, which also factors into their expenditure costs.
