Swift Current's annual Household Hazardous Waste Day is set for Saturday, which will give residents a safe way to lighten their garbage load.

"We'll have a facility set up to accept the waste, and we'll have an environmental contractor on site along with the fire department to help us collect that," said Mitch Minken, General Manager of Infrastructure and Operations for the City. "It's an opportunity for people to responsibly dispose of their household hazardous waste so it doesn't end up in the landfills or in other places where it can contaminate the environment."

Residents are encouraged to bring items for disposal such as chemicals, solvents, aerosol containers, glue, batteries, pesticides, and fluorescent lights.

Collection will take place from 8:30am to 3:00pm in the parking lot of City Hall.
