The piles of sand and debris covering Swift Current's roadways will begin disappearing shortly.

Cooler than normal weather conditions forced the City of Swift Current to push their annual street sweeping program back recently but yesterday they announced it will commence tomorrow.

"We have to have the temperatures consistently above freezing in order to get that equipment out and going," Mitch Minken, the City's general manager of infrastructure and operations, said.

The residential program will begin in zone 3 and is slated to wrap up on May 18 with zones 1 and 15.

"As we're getting prepared for [the] season change, we are always proactive and have that equipment ready to roll," he said.

Street sweeping will run from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. and residents are asked by the City to move their vehicles so a thorough curb-to-curb cleaning can be completed.
