The CMHA Swift Current Branch could be in their new home within a year's time, or at least that's the hope.

Last week Jacqui Williams, the executive director for the non-profit organization, said they're closing in on their financial goal for the new building.

"There will still be some minimal fundraising," she said. "Because of course prices have gone up with COVID and you always incur additional costs when you do a new build, but we're so close and it's happening and it's going forward."

They recently signed some paperwork with Swift Current's Bridal Construction for them to be the general contractors.

"We're in the process now of finalizing our floor plans, getting our blueprints started, and pretty quickly looking for permits with the City," she explained.

They plan to break ground on their double lot just behind The Social Bowl sometime this summer with a target at opening the facility next summer.
