CNIB and WorkSafe Saskatchewan will be holding a presentation today to students at Success School, which will focus on eye injury prevention.

"We come into the schools and we do a presentation to really talk to the kids about wearing protective eye gear when they're out working or even just cutting the lawn at home, some of the basic things that people forget about," said Christall Beaudry, Provincial Manager for CNIB Saskatchewan. "As a bonus from the WorkSafe Sask program, we give out two pairs of eye safety glasses to each child that participates in the sessions. One is really for them, and one is to give to someone else, maybe it's for dad who is working on the farm. It's really to encourage everyone to wear proper protective gear."

CNIB adds 75% of eye loss is preventable, however it is estimated that over 720,000 Canadians experience an eye injury requiring medical attention each year.
