The Swift Current Comp Colts started their season off in the win column over the weekend in Moose Jaw.

Colts linebacker Zac Cloutier rushed in a pair of 1-yard touchdowns during the third quarter helping propel Swift Current past the Moose Jaw A.E. Peacock Tornadoes 21-0 on Saturday afternoon.

“We got inside around the ten-yard line and kind of went to our goal line package and he's the guy that can kind of fight for some hard yards," Swift Current Comp Colts Head Coach Derek Murdoch said. "He was great defensively all game and then obviously got the ball across the line for us a couple of times on a couple of hard runs."

In the fourth quarter, Swift Current picked up their third rushing touchdown of the afternoon as Colts defensive linemen Ty Zinger punched in a three-yard run.

While on the other side of the ball, Swift Current's defence only allowed 48 total offensive yards against the Tornadoes' 41 plays.

“We kind of had talked this week in practice just with the defensive group about how they're the veteran side of the ball for us," he said. "We said we were going to lean on them to keep getting stops... That's exactly what they did. They forced two and out and they pursed the ball really well and put lots of pressure on a young Peacock offence."

The Colts' defence also picked up a pair of interceptions (one from Cloutier and one from Declan Poppy) and recorded three fumble recoveries.

Rookie Colts wide receiver Derric Dulatre had a big first game hauling in a trio of catches will postings 89 yards.

Swift Current will look to put their 1-0 record on the line this Saturday at home hosting the 0-1 Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings.

The kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
