Southwest Saskatchewan was well-represented at the SHSAA Provincial Track and Field Championships in Saskatoon over the weekend.

The Swift Current Comprehensive High School claimed their fourth consecutive 5A team title, accumulating the most points of any of the 197 schools taking part, and 15 different athletes from SWAC schools took home at least one medal at the event. In addition, Jace Egland of Eastend won the intermediate boys' aggregate award, earning 61 points through the weekend. The SWAC district also was the most improved district, finishing 6th overall, and had the best points per athlete average.

Gold medallists:

  • Colter Folk (SCCHS) - Intermediate boys' 1500m and 3000m
  • Jace Egland (Eastend) - Intermediate boys' javelin and shot put
  • Carter Tuplin (SCCHS) - Junior boys' hurdles
  • Brooklyn Leppa (Gull Lake) - Junior girls' quad
  • Olami Akinfiresoye (SCCHS) - Senior girls' high jump

Silver medallists:

  • Elijah Siemens (SCCHS) - Junior boys' pole vault
  • Dani Meyer (SCCHS) - Junior girls' 400m
  • Madden Wallis (Shaunavon) - Senior boys' high jump
  • Lucas Carlson (SCCHS) - Senior boys' shot put

Bronze medallists:

  • Jace Egland (Eastend) - Intermediate boys' discus
  • Towa Whitefish (Maple Creek) - Intermediate boys' 3000m
  • Ashlynn Meyer (SCCHS) - Intermediate girls' pole vault
  • Rowan Reimer (SCCHS) - Junior boys' 800m and 1500m
  • Junior boys 4x100m relay - Landon Phair (SCCHS), Carter Tuplin (SCCHS), Deric Dulatre (SCCHS), Alex Cruz (Maple Creek)
