It was a busy first week for COVID-19 in Chinook School Division schools.

According to reports sent out from the school division, 19 individuals in 9 different schools were diagnosed with the virus from September 3 to September 12, 2021.

The affected schools have been:

  • Leader Composite School: 
    • September 3, 2021 - 1 individual.
  • Ecole Centennial School:
    • September 6, 2021 - 1 individual.
  • Waldeck School:
    • September 6, 2021 - 3 individuals.
    • September 12, 2021 - 1 individual
  • Shaunavon High School:
    • September 7, 2021 - 1 individual
  • Central School:
    • September 7, 2021 - 1 individual
  • Maple Creek Composite School:
    • September 7, 2021 - 3 individuals
    • September 9, 2021 - 1 individual
  • Fairview School:
    • September 8, 2021 - 1 individual
    • September 10, 2021 - 2 individuals
  • Herbert School:
    • September 12, 2021 - 2 individuals
  • Sidney Street School:
    • September 10, 2021 - 1 individual

Another individual connected to two schools; Maple Creek Composite and Sidney Street School, was identified as well.

In all cases, the Chinook School division reports that communication has been shared with the school community and any individuals who may have been in close contact with the case have been contacted by the SHA to provide direction.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, 15,544 cases, or roughly 26 percent, have been aged 19 and under,  while only 3 deaths have been reported in the same age group.
