Camping at the Craven Country Jamboree will be set up at a different site away from the festival grounds

Camping at the Craven Country Jamboree has been moved, after flooding at the festival site.

Organizers announced this morning that the campgrounds for the country music festival will be moved north of Highway 11 near Lumsden, and will include both general and reserved camping. The new area will be open July 10 at 9:00 am, but campers will not be allowed to line up before this time.

Shuttle buses will transport campers between the campgrounds and festival.

The decision comes as the campsite on the festival grounds was left flooded this spring. Organizers have been trying to pump flood water out of their campsites for weeks but on Monday they were ordered to stop by the Department of Oceans and Fisheries, after federal officials were worried about fish living in the flooded area.

The government has since told the organizers they can resume pumping, but it's too late to save any campsites.
