Forty-year-old Keith Currie, of no fixed address, appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court this morning to answer to charges after he was arrested by police last week for suspicious behavior.

Police received a tip of a man acting suspiciously in Tompkins last Thursday.  A chase ensued, where Currie used a stolen truck that he was driving to elude RCMP by ramming a police cruiser.  He was arrested the next day in the Carmichael area.

He was sentenced to seven months' incarceration for being in possession of stolen property, and he received a six-month consecutive sentence for dangerous driving.  In addition, Currie is prohibited from driving for one year.

Currie also had warrants out for his arrest for previous crimes in Ontario and BC.   He has a lengthy criminal record, which includes 79 prior convictions for fraud, property, and sexual offences.
