Chronic Wasting Disease has been confirmed right here in Saskatchewan, by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

It has been found in some white-tail deer and in two elk hunt farms, including one in the Moose Jaw area.

Dr Cornelius Kiley of the CFIA says the finding of CWD in the province was not unexpected, and he says the public need not be concerned.

Dr Kiley says there is compensation for owners of affected animals.
