Cypress Health Region 1

The Cypress Health Region is acknowledging Environmental Public Health Week.

The local Public Health Inspection staff are putting up a display unit at the EI Wood building to recognize the week.

"This week is to really honour our public health inspectors and the work that they do within our region and nationally," said Cypress Health Region CEO Beth Vachon. "The significance of this is that the Canadian Institute for Public Health Inspectors is celebrating their 100th Anniversary."

The health region is inviting you to stop by on Friday to check out the display unit and chat with their public health staff regarding the role they play in the health care system.

"We certainly know the value that our public health inspectors bring to ensuring safety," Vachon said. "Not only for the public but certainly within our facilities as well they play an integral role when it comes to infection control."

One of the local inspectors serves as a board member on the national association and he will be present to speak about this notable anniversary.

"It's just really nice to have an opportunity to acknowledge the work that they've done," Vachon said. "And to help them celebrate the fact that this profession has been organized for 100 years in this country."

The event is scheduled for 10:30am Thursday at the EI Wood Building on the 4th floor.
