There has been a temporary disruption in general surgery services at the Cypress Regional Hospital.

With the departure of Dr. Sherwani this past Sunday, Dr. Ghori was scheduled to begin work on Monday.  However, he was unexpectedly called back to his native country of Pakistan for a family emergency.

Executive Director of Communications for the Cypress Health Region, Bryce Martin says other surgical staff are still available, and emergencies are still being handled normally at the hospital until Dr. Ghori's return within the next couple of weeks.

Patients whose needs cannot be met at the Swift Current facility will be transferred to neighbouring facilities in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, or Regina.
