Wind is forecasted to get up to around 100 kilometres an hour in some southwest Saskatchewan areas today.

Thanks to a low-pressure system out of British Columbia, southwest Saskatchewan residents may be quite literally pushed around by mother nature.

That system has prompted Environment Canada to declare a wind warning for the area.

Dan Kulak, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said that there could be some potential dangers present with the weather.

"Certainly things can be tossed in the wind, things you don't expect."

"Even animals that are spooked by things that are happening around them can run in front of the road, so basically its really a time when you always pay attention to what you're doing."

He said in most areas, the wind won't get into the 100 kilometres an hour range.

"Ninety to 100 is going to be the high end of the range here. Some wind-prone areas are going to be the ones that get those, in general though, it might be more along the gust to 70 rather than the gusts to 90."

For most of western Canada, gusts from around 70 kilometres an hour and up constitute an Environment Canada wind warning.

Wind is predicted to stay around 40 or 60 kilometres an hour tomorrow, and dissipate during Sunday.

The wind is also causing warm weather as the southwestern wind brings it's heat with it.

Today's high is 17 C, and will begin a set of negative temperatures starting tomorrow.

"This is a sign of fall," Kulak said. "When you get these significant weather systems moving through with wild swings in temperatures,"
