David Anderson, MP for Cypress Hills-Grasslands has been named Opposition Critic for International Human Rights and Religious Freedom.

Conservative Interim Leader Rona Ambrose made the announcement on Friday.

In the release, Ambrose pointed to Anderson's 15 years of experience and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, saying she's confident that he's up to the challenge.

Anderson was also named Question Period Coordinator, a position he previously held from 2003-2004. Other shadow cabinet appointees for the Conservatives include long-time MP Lisa Raitt as Finance Critic, former Justice Minister Rob Nicholson will be the critic for his old portfolio and Kellie Leitch, a physician, will be the Health Critic.

Tony Clement is tapped to watch foreign affairs, Ed Fast will handle the environment and former veterans minister Erin O’Toole will have responsibility for Public Safety.

The 42nd Parliament opens with the election of the Speaker on December 3.
