Swift Current Broncos forward Jake DeBrusk will represent Team WHL in this year's Subway Super Series against the Russians.

The Boston Bruins draft pick scored 42 goals last season and has 11 points in 8 games this season.

DeBrusk was also invited to Team Canada's orientation camp for the World Junior team over the summer. This series is one of the evaluation tools for Hockey Canada before naming this year's World Junior Championship roster.

DeBrusk has been playing all three forward positions at different times this season at different times adding some variety to his game.

"I feel comfortable in all three," DeBrusk said. "Last year it kind of went from left wing to right wing and this year from center to wing. I'm pretty comfortable in all the positions. For me the biggest adjustment is knowing details of every single details of face-offs or neutral zone things. I think I'm getting better at it."

After a slow start offensively the Broncos have picked it up in the last two weeks. For DeBrusk it really has been a simple solution.

"In practice we're really focused on getting pucks to the net," DeBrusk said. "Knowing that your teammates are going to throw it there so go there. We made that big addition with (Jon) Martin and he's been hot. Everything has been going in for that guy. I think he fits perfect with what I was saying before about everything shooting to the net."

DeBrusk has been getting a lot of attention as one of the top 19-year-olds in the WHL with the prospect of powerhouse teams trying to make big offers to Swift Current for his services in his final season. He's not letting those rumours distract him and is focused on staying with the team he wants to play for.

"I hear a little bit of that stuff but while I'm here I'm going to be focusing on this team," DeBrusk said. "This is the team I want to play for. Sometimes you hear things here and there. I won't believe it until I see it and I don't really want to."

Dillon Heatherington was Swift Current's lone representative on Team WHL last season. DeBrusk will join that group for games against Russia on November 9th and 10th in Kelowna and Kamloops.

The Broncos have another busy week with games in Moose Jaw on Wednesday, Lethbridge on Friday and home against the Warriors on Saturday.
