Yesterday, the Swift Current Rural Fire Department responded to a rollover on the Trans-Canada Highway.

During the latter half of the afternoon, the Rural Fire Department headed out to a call of a single-vehicle rollover, east of Swift Current on Highway One.

Louis Cherpin, the Fire Chief for the Swift Current Rural Fire Department, responded to the call with his team of volunteer firefighters.

"There were most likely minor injuries," said Cherpin.  When we arrived on the scene, he was already being attended to by the EMS and in the back of the ambulance. All reports indicate that he was safe and sound."

The individual is reported to have been travelling from B.C. to Ontario for medical school. His truck was carrying all of his belongings that were coming with him and left a huge debris field after the rollover.

"We spent our time there doing traffic control while the RCMP were doing their due diligence," said Cherpin. "During that time, we cleaned up the road debris and packed it up in the back of the vehicle."

There were no other occupants in the vehicle, and no other motorists were involved in the incident.

The investigation into the cause of the rollover is still ongoing.
