Valleys and ditches are common feeding ground for deer, and motorists are being asked to use caution during these next few months.

Darryl Crabbe with Saskatchewan Wildlife says deer eat in ditches because they green faster, and they are also attracted close to the roads because of salt on the highways.

Highway drivers may have noticed more deer in the ditches lately.  Crabbe explains does will be giving birth in early April and they're building up their reserves.

Crabbe says if an accident happens and a deer is hit, drivers are asked to call the Sask Environment Reginoal Office to report the area.  They will make sure the animal has died and will deal with the remains.
