Attendees at last night's Swift Current and District Drug Task Force meeting were able to see a renowned speaker regarding drug and alcohol education.

Rand Teed is an Internationally-Certified Prevention Specialist, addictions counsellor and drug and alcohol educator. He presented to an audience at the Swift Current Composite High School Cafetorium

Teed has presented in Swift Current the past six years, and shares part of this year's focus.

"The name of the drug doesn't matter. Like people will get upset about cocaine and fentanyl and those kinds of things, but be okay with alcohol and marijuana. We need to not make those distinctions, because all drugs impact brain development in the same way," he said.

The addictions counselor stresses that addressing the issue to both kids and parents is of great importance.
