Broncos Captain Cody Eakin is using being a late cut from last year's World Junior Championship team to motivate him for this December's selection camp.

Eakin was one of 39 players invited to Team Canada's camp next month.

He says the process started with the junior camp this summer.

Eakin says there are no big secrets for how to make the roster.

The Washington Capitals' draft pick has 12 goals and 15 assists in 24 games this season.

He says it benefits him to be part of the top ranked penalty kill in the Western Hockey League.

Despite being a natural centre, Eakin believes he could effectively play wing for Team Canada.
