Eastend elected a new mayor yesterday.

Alan Howard earned the victory with 243 votes over Evelyn Sankey's 29.

"I want to give something back to the community I grew up in, and I have now retired here." said Howard, "I guess marketing is part of it, and communication, one of the things I figure is very important, is as a council and a mayor we communicate, not only with the residents and citizens but with the district to let them know what's going on, what our plan is and what our vision is for the future."

Howard plans to work on promoting Eastend, and attract new people to town for his upcoming term.

Eastend's six Town Council seats were filled by Charles Michel, Cameron VanSandt, Bryce Busse, Robert Stork, Stephanie Davisson and Dennis Webster.

Voter turnout at last nights polls was 278.
