Recently, Opposition Leader Dwain Lingenfelter commented on how rural healthcare is in a near-crisis situation, and called on the Provincial government to do more to help.

However, a southwest Mayor says the Brad Wall government is doing as good a job as they can to address healthcare concerns in rural communities.

Eastend Mayor Scott Morvik says everyone in rural Saskatchewan understands there are challenges in rural healthcare, including doctor and nursing shortages.  Morvik says, in his experience, the government has been very receptive to their concerns, and they have made a real effort to address most of them.  He adds that they are starting to see some results from mentioning those concerns to their MLA.

Morvik adds, many rural communities remember that Lingenfelter was part of an NDP government that closed 52 rural hospitals.  He finds his criticism ironic when it's against a government that recently announced the building of a new Integrated healthcare facility in Maple Creek.
