Employment Insurance claims were way down in Swift Current this June.

Interview with Alastair MacFadden"The E.I beneficiary in Swift Current dropped by 60%," said Executive Director of the Labour Market Planning Branch of the Ministry of the Economy Alastair MacFadden. "Now that's seasonally adjusted on a year over year basis to actually less then 40 claimants."

"Our economy continues to attract people into jobs so that's why we do have record employment. We continue to have strong vacancy information so employers remain active in their hiring decisions and people are choosing to live and work in out province."

As a whole, Saskatchewan had a 14.6 per cent drop in Employment Insurance claims in June 2012 when compared with last June, that's a drop of more than 900 people, the largest percentage drop among Canadian provinces.
