A meeting was held in Shaunavon Friday afternoon on the proposed enterprise regions in the province, which are scheduled to replace the REDAs next spring.

Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Lyle Stewart said to the group that the new program will build upon the successes of the REDAs, and will help all stakeholders and regions to more effectively compete in a global market.  He added that it's an attempt to add significant economic development capacity to the province.

Stewart added that overall response to these changes has been positive across the province, and there appears to be a real willingness to adapt.

Stewart discussed the proposed new boundaries for the province and emphasized that these boundaries are negotiable until the end of August.  An announcement regarding timelines and processes for existing REDAs and the new regions to govern themselves before the end of the fiscal year will be made on August 5th.
