Environment Minister and Minister Responsible for Sask Power, Dustin Duncan, has announced a new Power Generation Partner Program in the province.

"After a significant amount of consultation with individuals and industry across Saskatchewan, Sask Power is launching a new program. It's gonna be a program that allows for existing Sask Power customers that can produce electricity to sell that to Sask Power."

Duncan says the PGPP will help Sask Power achieve its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 by adding up to 105 megawatts of renewable and carbon-neutral electrical generation.

Every year the Program will accept up to 10 megawatts of renewable generation, like solar, and 25 megawatts of carbon-neutral non-renewable generation, such as gas flares.

The PGPP is a two year program, with an option to extend it to three and applications will be accepted on an annual basis.

It replaces the Small Power Producers Program and the Flare Gas Generation Program.

This year's application window runs from November 15-30.
