Staying on top of things when it comes to gas prices can go a long way in life, especially when you know when to fill up a tank, and when to avoid fueling up.

As the month of October begins, it's looking like gas prices are going to be on the rise due to decent weather around the province. At one point in September, gas was only 0.92 cents per 1 Litre but could go as high as $1.02 per 1 Litre once October rolls around.

Dan McTeague, the Senior Petroleum Analyst with GasBuddy, believes that prices are on the rise to help slow down sales for the time being. Gas stations can normally use this time to go through different areas of maintenance and make sure everything is set in stone as the winter months approach. The beginning of October is generally a pretty safe time to begin this process because the weather still allows the stations to operate without having to truly worry about temperatures.

Once October is halfway over, there is a very decent chance that gas prices will go back down towards the 92 cents per 1 Litre, or somewhere around what it is today.

Another factor that plays into the rise of gas prices until middle October is the Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Scheduled for the second weekend of October, families will be travelling long distances across the province to spend time with family and the need for fuel will be needed during this weekend.

For a solution, it's recommended to fuel up now before October kicks off.
