The Salvation Army started handing out backpacks yesterday following what`s been a very successful Back to School campaign so far.

As part of the national 'Fill Up the Bus' campaign, Staples locations partner with Salvation Army to collect donations and school supplies to help send local kids to school in the fall.

"It was just an amazing year this year. We actually helped 107 children with backpacks to go back to school within the Chinook School Division," said Community and Family Services Coordinator, Sandra Brong. "Everybody will be able to go back with a backpack and supplies for school. It should help all the students and the families as far as financial needs to not have to worry about those needs."

Brong adds she would like to thank our local Staples for their commitment to helping better serve our community.

The campaign will run until mid September at the Swift Current Staples, and Brong says donations will be accepted during the first week of the month.
