A report projecting the economic growth of Canada's provinces over the next couple years is placing Saskatchewan at the top of the list.

This is according to RBC's Economics Provincial Outlook that pinpoints the percentage of growth each province will potentially witness next year and 2019.

Saskatchewan leads all provinces with 2.7 per cent between both years; recovery in the energy sector along with rising investments in the agricultural and mining sectors will boost the province's growth, according to the report.

"Saskatchewan’s economy has been resilient in the face of challenges in the resource sector," said Economy Minister Steven Bonk. "We have made some tough decisions to place the province in a position of strength for the future, and we are pleased to see these decisions yielding positive results for our economy."

The average for Canada over those two years is 1.9 per cent next year and then dropping to 1.6 per cent before the end of the decade. Alberta is in second for next year with a projection of 2.3 per cent.
