The Swift Current Ag & Ex held their annual general meeting this week and the past year's financials was a hot topic of conversation.

The end of 2020 saw the Ag & Ex with a $53, 641 loss which was significant considering the success of 2019.

They did receive beneficial financial support from the government as Finance Chair for the Swift Current Ag & Ex Stan Aikens explains.

"We received from the Federal government $48,128.00 under the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and provincially we received a tourism grant of $15,000 and small business funding of $9712,00."

Although the support from the government was good and beneficial, it did not cover the losses.

The money received went towards the programming that was put on, the wage subsidy went to staffing as the Ag & Ex were able to keep their staff on in order to connect with volunteers, put on virtual events, plan for 2021, and upgrades that were done to the Doc's Town Heritage Village.

Looking forward to 2021 Aikens says they have some potential fundraising plans as he explains.

"Yes, we're looking at doing during our Frontier Day's and leading up to it, throughout the year we are looking to do a 50/50 raffle. Were also looking to do a sweepstakes draw where we will have various prizes."
