A fire early this morning saw one trailer burn down and another receive damage.

At around 3:30 a.m. the Swift Current Rural Fire Department was notified of a fire located in the Prairie Sun Court east of Swift Current.

Louis Cherpin, fire chief of the Swift Current Rural Fire Department, said that there were no injuries and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"Fortunately everybody did get out of the trailer unharmed," he said. "We are not sure what happened yet, and it's still under investigation. We have some theories, but we are going to go back once it cools down just to try and figure it out."

The trailer to the north of the structure that burned down received significant siding damage.

"We were able to save the trailer to the north of it," Cherpin said. "It did get some significant siding damage and some house damage but the trailer is still standing, and we are pretty proud of that effort to be able to stop and save a trailer that is sometimes hard to stop."

Cherpin added that by 6 a.m. the crew was putting out hotspots and ambers and left the scene shortly after 8:30 a.m.
