Ralph and Anthea Loran at the Endowment Ceremony

Two long-time Swift Current residents are leaving a legacy to Great Plains College by committing its first-ever endowment fund.

Anthea Loran and her husband Ralph contributed $92,000, the largest donation the college has ever seen, to the fund at a reception with college staff, friends and family on hand on Friday.

"It sets the stage for continued student success in post-secondary education at the college level," said Great Plains College President and CEO David Keast, "it really cuts to the core business of what we do, it's an important day for us, and an important day for the Loran's." "My profession, which was nursing, and Ralph's which was surveying, we believe in practical experience as well as University, so we really like to support the college here." Anthea said, honored. Full Interview with Ralph and Anthea Loran

The fund will be used for two entrance scholarships, one to a practical nursing student and another to a student in the university program with an interest in engineering or surveying.
