First United Church

First United Church in Swift Current will be holding their annual dinner and silent auction evening on January 31st to raise money for the Three Sisters Orphange in Nepal, which past minister Sharon Ferguson-Hood has frequently visited.

"They have an orphanage, and they also train the girls to be Sherpas, to guide people going on treks," said Rhonda Lotochinski, Office Manager at First United Church. "One of our past ministers would go to Nepal quite a bit and go trekking. She was introduced to them, and now puts fundraisers on for them."

The evening includes a dinner and information presentation about the Orphange, and a silent auction will also be taking place with 17 items from Nepal on offer.

"We have four Nepalese mandalas, they're a spiritual symbol representing the universe," Lotochinski added. "We also have several pashiminas, jewelry from Nepal, and yak wool shawls from Nepal."

Those interested in attending must phone First United to register in advance at 306-773-9353.
