It's a summertime tradition in Saskatchewan which was postponed due to heavy rain and flooding in the southeast earlier this season.

Free Fishing Weekend goes today and tomorrow where everyone, even visitors to the province, can go fishing without having to buy a license.

"There is a tremendous angling experiences to be had in Saskatchewan. It's just a little something that government has done for a number of years just to promote that experience in our province." said Environment Minister Scott Moe

Normal rules still however apply to the weekend.

"All catch rules that do apply with any other day of the year do apply. The only difference is that today you do not require an actual license." Moe stated.

The free fishing weekend will not include national parks.
