winter warning

After a heavy dump of snow earlier this month, more winter weather is coming our way.

Another snowfall is expected to start later today with up to six centimetres of snow expected by tomorrow, but not before we get some freezing rain, which is why Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for southwest Saskatchewan. Periods of freezing rain are expected this morning before they change to flurries this afternoon.

The weather is sure to make for dangerous driving conditions on the highways. The Highway Hotline is currently reporting some slippery sections and reduced visibility in fog, but Ponteix RCMP are advising against any travel in that area, saying clear ice on the highways in that area is making it appear safe, but conditions are actually very treacherous.

Be sure to check the road conditions before heading out today. You can do so by calling the Highway Hotline at 1-888-335-7623, or visiting highways.gov.sk.ca online.
