The Swift Current Friendship Centre will soon have a new home thanks to City Council.

The centre will be moving into 830 North Railway Street East, in the building formerly occupied by Family Billiards.

A public hearing was held during City Council's regular meeting yesterday morning, however no members of the public attended to express concerns or support.

One letter of concern was sent to City Hall, and Councillors say the only concerns they have heard are from citizens worried about an increase in drug and alcohol use in the area, something councillors say will not happen with the Friendship Centre.

Councillor Stacey Ellertson creditted the centre with a wonderful professional job at the existing Friendship Centre.
