The Saskatchewan Government has announced the first intake of municipal projects under The Targeted Sector Support Initiative, which helps municipalities improve local governance, encourage more regional cooperation and build upon existing capacity.

Following a thorough application review process, 33 projects were approved for funding including the Village of Frontier who received $16,875 towards their South West Regional Emergency Management Plan.

Barb Webber is the Frontier Village Administrator, as well as the Administrator for the RM of Frontier. She said, "Now we are going to the new plan that the province wants everybody to go on. It's called ICS-Incident Command System. And so that if everybody's on the same system, say we had a disaster down here, Shaunavon could come down and run the plan to help us out ."

The RM of Val Marie also received $13,000 under the program to be used for Governance Training.
