The Elmwood Golf Club in Swift Current

Get set to tee off as local golf courses are opening up this weekend.

Chinook Golf Course in Swift Current announced this morning that they will be opening nine holes starting Friday at 10:00am. Golf Pro Ken Koster says last week's flooding will delay the move to a full 18, but they are hoping they will have everything up as soon as possible.

The Elmwood Golf Club in the city is also set to open their first nine holes on Friday at 10:00am. Elmwood General Manager Sheldon Reinhart says it may take a little longer to get the whole course open, with last week's flood and soft ground conditions making it difficult for crews to get the bridges back in, meaning Holes 11, 12 and 13 will be out of play for a while.

Sask Landing Golf Resort at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park will be opening Friday afternoon. General Manager Ryan Neustaeter says the course is looking good under the circumstances, saying the course is still brown, but it is starting to green up with the sun coming out. He adds the greens have wintered well as usual, and they are looking forward to the golf season.

Maple Creek Golf Course is already open but is moving from temporary greens to regulation greens this weekend. Manager Debbie Forbes says their greens came through the winter well, and there is still a little bit of water around, but the course is still accessible.
