This holiday season, it may be time to think more about replacing those video games with something a little more active for your kids.

Saskatchewan In Motion has prepared an Active Toy Guide where you will find several gift options that will help encourage kids to play outdoors, and interact with nature.

"Less than 15% of Saskatchewan kids are getting the physical activity they need, and that number is almost unbelievable," said Cathie Kryzanowski with Saskatchewan In Motion, "so we really do have to work together as parents, teachers, community leaders to do what we can to get kids off the couch and moving."

Kryzanowski added active games, or "exergames" are not an appropriate substitute for physical activity.

Kids need more than 60 minutes of physical activity a day in order to be happy, healthy and productive day to day.
