The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased that the province's physicians have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new 4-year contract agreement.

Health Minister Don McMorris says he is very pleased they have reached a deal with the Saskatchewan Medical Association which meets their objective of providing fair and competitive compensation, and that is a key element of their physician recruitment strategy.

The agreement includes an 11% increase in fees paid for physician services, along with a 2% market adjustment.

The new contract is retro-active and covers the period from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2013.
