The search for the next leader of the Saskatchewan Party has become a four-person race.

Justice Minister Gordon Wyant is the latest to announce he'll be joining the bid to replace Brad Wall as party leader and premier.

Wyant became the representative for Saskatoon Northwest via a 2010 by-election and held his seat in the two elections since.

Any cabinet minister will have to step down from their seat in order to run, so a cabinet shuffle is on the way.

Wall said while he's not endorsing any candidates he's hoping for a lot of people to run.

"I'm encouraging anyone and everyone to run for the leadership, and it sounds like a strange way to put it. But I've had people come forward and say they were thinking about it, and I've encouraged them because I think a good contest is important," he said. "I think we need this to be a time of renewal for the party. The more candidates presenting their ideas, including ideas that may be different from the things we've done, the more of that the better - that's the definition of renewal."

Tina Beaudry-Mellor, Jeremy Harrison and Ken Cheveldayoff were the first three to announce they'd be running to replace Wall as leader of the Saskatchewan Party and premier.
