The village of Hazlet was buzzing this past weekend with their annual Sports Day.

A golf tournament, a slo-pitch tournament, some kayaking, face-painting, and a bouncy castle were some of the things offered at the three-day event.

Lindsay Alliban, one of the organizers of the event, said it was a great way to spend Father's Day weekend.

"It was awesome, we had another great year with good weather," she said. "We had lots of campers, our park was super full, we had no electrical sites left. We had six slo-pitch, we had 30 people golf Friday night, and we had 14 teams for our tinman relay."

The event was held at the Hazlet Regional Park, a place the organizers are hoping to enhance with beer gardens money and camping fees.

"It's a really nice venue for outdoor concerts," Alliban explained. "Kind of one of our big plans is to kind of improve things down there so that we can host more concerts and set up a permanent stage, a better beer gardens area, and maybe improve our washrooms situation."

Alliban wasn't exactly sure on how long the event had existed for but did say the tinman relay had been going for over 25 years and the regional park has been around for more than 50 years.
