Saskatchewan residents now can make any changes or updates to health card information with the click of a mouse.

Anyone with a valid health card can submit multiple updates to their health card registration information, including:

-Family unit changes due to marriage, divorce/seperation, common-law, addition or removal of dependants.
-Report an address change.
-Replace a lost, stolen or damaged card.
-Change of name.
-Correction to health card information/submit copies of updated immigration documents.
-Report an extended absense.
-Report a return from an extended absense.
-Appointment of Power of Attorney.

Prior to these online services, residents were required to fill out and submit a form through mail or fax, forcing them to wait until it had been recieved on the other end.

"This now is online, it advises you as soon as it has been recieved by us and tells you when the transaction has been completed," said Pat Cambridge with the Ministry of Health, "so you have continuous communication and know that whatever you're submitting is being completed."

The processing speed for this new 24/7 service is of course much more efficient and timely than the previous method, if accurate and complete information is provided, updates are processed immediately or within two business days.

Saskatchewan residents have been able to apply for a health card online for over a year now, and the changes to the online process are all part of the Government's commitment to improving public access services.

"We're hoping everyone finds this useful, and any feedback is always appreciated," Cambridge noted, "if there's any glitches or anything that can be improved, we can certainly look at it if they get in touch with us."
