rainfall

With the Shaunavon area receiving between two and three inches of rain over the past few days town of Shaunavon crews are monitoring the Lift Station and storm sewers closely.

"Our lift station is pumping, both pumps are rolling away. Due to the high water table a lot of the sump pumps in town do go into the sewer system so it does put a little bit more pressure on the lift station. We have trucks on call, we are  monitering it. Right now with the new system and the upgrades made to the lift station we can monitor it on our computers and phones," said Shaunavon Town Administrator, Jay Meyer.

Meyer adds that the storm sewers are handling the extra water well, with some problem areas cropping up..but nothing serious.

"When it comes down to rain like this there are certain areas in town that do accumulate water, but our storm sewers are keeping up quite well with the exception of a couple areas," said Meyer.

Merrick Goldstein from the Shaunavon Fire Department says they were out on Tuesday evening helping to pump out some residents basements.
