It was a big night for Everett Hindley and his Sask Party.

The MLA handily won his riding, sending him back to the Legislature in Regina for his first full term since taking over for Brad Wall in 2018.

"It feels good. I really truly feel honoured to have been reelected by the people of Swift Current and to know that the campaign that we were running resonated with the folks here in Swift Current as it did province-wide."

In a year where COVID-19 has caused a jump in mail-in ballots, 61,000 votes have yet to be counted province-wide. A number of ridings in urban areas are still in the air and likely not going to be finalized until early in November. However, with only 594 mail-in ballots in Swift Current, Hindley's lead of roughly 4000 votes over NDP contender Stefan Rumpel prevents those mail-in ballots from making a difference in the end result.

For Hindley, it's a vote of confidence in not only the Sask Party but in himself.

"We heard fairly early on. Despite what's going on with COVID and the pandemic and how that's affected the economy. And that by the way was the number one issue; of the two major parties, who's best to lead the province through the economic recovery."

Hindley talked about not being a rookie in the legislature anymore; with two years under his belt heading into this new Sask Party mandate. He said that he's hopeful that he can help some of the new MLAs that will be joining him adjust to the position.

"Whatever role I have, at the bare minimum I hope to provide what little guidance and advice I can offer as a still somewhat new guy to this."

His advice to those new MLAs is to simply not forget where they came from.

"Remember how you got there; the people that supported you in your constituency and always remember that those are the people that have chosen you to represent their riding honourably and professionally in the legislative assembly and that's what's most important."
