A growing number of people are becoming stressed and concerned about their financial situation

A large number of Canadians are feeling a lot more than the usual holiday stress this year.

A new Sun Life Financial survey finds over a-third of Canadian adults are more stressed about their personal finances than they were at this time last year. Here in the prairies, that number is even slightly higher at about 38%.

However, it seems far fewer people are more stressed about the economy. "While that concern is likely related to the economic uncertainty, their clear focus is on their own personal financial situation", says Sun Life Financial senior vice-president Kevin Strain.

The Ipsos survey taken annually just before the holidays finds more than half of those aged 18-to-34 are more stressed this year about their finances.
