Residents are expecting the housing boom to continue in 2008 as rumours of a further economic boom flourish.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says it's too soon to tell whether the new Saskatchewan Party government will have an effect on housing starts.

Richard Corriveau, Regional Economist with CHMC, says 2007 has seen a 20-year high for housing starts in the province, and prices are rising at the same time.  He says the province will lead price growth across Canada this year, with a 29 percent increase in the average price.  That is the highest gain on record, and the highest gain among any province, in 2007.

Corriveau adds they are expecting Saskatchewan to lead price growth in 2008 as well, at a projected 14 percent increase.
