Two outstanding pitching performances helped the Swift Current 57's pick up two big wins over the Weyburn Beavers in a doubleheader Wednesday night at Tom Laing Park.

Game one:

Kenny Jinks pitched a complete game shutout and struck out 10 batters for the 57's in a 2-0 win in the opener. Justin Barnes drove in both runs for Swift Current with RBI singles in the third and fifth innings.

Josh Wintroub struck out eight batters and allowed four hits over four innings to take the loss for Weyburn.

Game two:

Izaiah Ayala followed up Jinks' stellar game with one of his own as he pitched a complete game no-hitter with 13 strikeouts and only two walks as the 57's won the nightcap 7-0.

Logan Stockton brought in Barnes to open the scoring for Swift Current in the first inning, and Hayden Cooper scored on an Owen Stevenson groundout in the second. The 57's then got four runs in the sixth inning as Nick Chavez brought home Thomas Collins on an RBI single, and then later scored on a single by Stevenson. Cory Bonstrom hit a two-run single to bring home Chavez and Trent Greek, and Cooper hit into a fielder's choice to bring home Kenny Jinks, who came in to pinch hit in the seventh.

Ryan Jundt allowed two earned runs and struck out six batters over all seven innings to take the loss for Weyburn.

The 57's improve to 20-23 with the two wins, and are eight games behind first-place Moose Jaw in the East Division standings.

Swift Current and Weyburn play again tonight at 7:05pm from Mitchell Field.
