The community of Shaunavon will honor it's 2015 Citizen of the Year this Saturday evening.

Kathleen East was announced as the Citizen of the Year back in March and her lengthy and varied resume of volunteerism and her work to preserve the community's history is impressive and made her an ideal choice for the honor. East retired from teaching school in 2000 and continues to tutor students. An active bridge player, she is teaching the game to a group of students at the local school. East is a volunteer driver for the Shaunavon Courtesy Car and is well known for her beautiful garden, her love of animals and baking. She currently puts in as many as 20 volunteer hours a week in the research department at the Grand Coteau Centre

Sponsored by the Shaunavon Chamber of Commerce the Citizen of the Year Banquet will happen this Saturday May 2nd in Christ the King Church Hall in Shaunavon. Cocktails are at five thirty, supper will be at six, followed by official ceremonies.

Only 180 tickets are available for the Gala event. They are $30.00 each and are available at the Grand Coteau Centre in Shaunavon or you can phone 306-297-3882.
